A Super fine quality and excellent militia officers waist belt plate measuring 3 inches by 1 3/4 inches. It is gilt brass with die-struck tongue disc. rolled tongue bar and cast belt loop. The back is lacquered. This is half of an attractive officers' plate modeled loosely after the 1819 pattern for Regimental officers. Its form and construction were typical of the 1830s. Possible Naval Use. It is the exact plate shown as Plate 127 pg. 88 in American Military Belt Plates by O'Donnell & Campbell and from the collection of James Hart.
