Applied silver letters FF in the center of a silver wreath of laurel leaves. The FF is for the Fitchburg Fusileers. It is a famous Mass. militia unit that saw considerable action in the Civil War as part of Company B 15th Massachusetts Infantry. Their service was heroic, and after four years of hard fighting, many of the participants were dead or sick. This plate is from the Collection of James Hart.
