Model 1860 Sauerbier Type 1 Enlisted Cavalry Saber
Manufd: Newark NJ
Maker: Henry Sauerbier
Model: M 1860
Size: 36 inch blade
H. Sauerbier Type 1 enlisted cavalry saber. Grip is the M 1840 configuration but the blade is 1 inch and is in the M1860 configuration. Unmarked but definitely Sauerbier. Traits are unstopped fuller blade, spanner nut on pommel, brass throat with two screws, and brass drag. Scabbard is marked with a # 18 on reverse near the throat. This is a carried saber as the ring has wear and the blade has old signs of sharpening. Grip leather and wire are both excellent. This is a rare enlisted pattern with great patina and character.
