Item # SPCG428   -  Ames 1st year Contract Artillery Short Sword
Rare 1832 dated Heavy Artillery Price: US $2,950       Qty Required

This is a very elusive sword to find with the first year of production date of 1832. The sword is dark with some blade dings but would clean quite well. The brass hilt is also dark but the detail is quite sharp. Inspector S. Huse Newburryport is stamped on the edge of the cross guard along with DT (Daniel Tyler) or DF. It has another oval cartouche with ET. (Elisha Toby) on the reverse . Of the few dated 1832 swords I have seen all have dented in grips - likely Condemned. This sword (with original frog attached ) obviously was not destroyed but sold to a State Militia. Original early scabbard with frog portion of original white buff belt.A very Rare addition to any collection.

Origin: Springfield, MA      Maker: N. P Ames      Year: 1832      Model: M1832      Size: -      Condition: VG
