This is a striking Boyle, Gamble Staff officer sword with a very scarce Brown leather grip and matching brown leather scabbard. The half basket guard has the wreath encircling a CS with a star above. There is a numeral 2 stamped under the guard as an assembly number found on most of these. The blade is etched with a standard B&G artillery pattern including a CSA near the guard, flags, foliage and a wonderful pair of crossed cannon. All etching is visible. The grip has a few tiny wear spots but excellent+ with all original leather and single strand wire. Guard and pommel are perfect. Blade has no nicks or rust. This is one of my favorite CS pattern swords and I have owned many over the last 45 years but this scabbard is the best I have ever had and very scarce being original russet color.
