A Memorial locket containing a lock of hair from Edwin M. Stanton, Lincoln's Secretary of War.
The inscription reads:  E. M. S. Dec. 24, 1869 (The date of Stanton's death)

This locket was purchased from the family along with a group of other personal items. Stanton was at Lincoln's bedside at the hour of the President's death and spoke the immortal words... "Now he belongs to the ages."
