This coat was worn by Charles Christmas (sic:Christman) Spears / private in Virginia Cavalry Company C. / He served through the valley campaign with Stonewall Jackson and Gallantly laid down his life at Leesburg, VA. Sept. 2, 1862. He was the husband of Sallie Spears and the father of Mrs. R. W. Hicks.

Virginia Militia Tunic also of Confederate use. Light summer grade dark blue wool, faded to a dark gray, triple breasted frock coat. Green raw silk lining, cotton twill lining in the sleeves. It has Gold facings denoting cavalry service. 31 large Virginia state seal buttons, 2 piece brass with the bmk.: "Extra Quality." Dimensions: 95cm.
