Captain Burwell Boykin McCaa  Coat (front)

Click on sash for detail photos.

The Frock Coat is lightweight gray wool with piping that has now faded to a light red. It has the gold bullion bars on the collar denoting the rank of Captain. The cuffs are trimmed in the same piping and a double row of gold quatrefoil running across the cuff and up to the elbow. This was often done to make an officer known to his men that were behind him. The buttons are U.S. Staff officer with the back mark Extra Quality.
